Description:
Since its founding in 1979, the New York League for Early Learning (NYL) has provided services and programs for children from birth to age five and their families. To strengthen its work for children with developmental disabilities and learning delays, NYL became a member of the YAI Network in 1992. Today, NYL's highly acclaimed, progressive education and cutting-edge therapies build brighter futures for thousands of children. NYL has been recognized for its excellence by the New York State Department of Education.
Serving nearly 2000 children daily, NYL's staff of more than 1000 highly trained professionals create safe, supportive learning environments in early intervention and preschool settings. NYL's full range of outstanding, culturally appropriate offerings are presented in many languages and are available at various sites: in the home, at community-based centers and at schools throughout the boroughs.
New York League for Early Learning, a member of the YAI Network, has a current need for a part-time 3 days a week Preschool Nurse at one of our preschools working with children with special needs located in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn.
Responsibilities include:
- Administer first aid on site to all children as well as staff
- Administer authorized medications to the children when necessary
- Maintain all medical and immunization history records for children and staff
- Serve as a resource for families regarding medical/dental services
- Participate in case conferences when medical issues need to be addressed
- Provide training for families regarding first aid, personal safety and emergency care
- Provide training for new and current employees in areas of Infection Control

Additional Qualifications:
- New York State RN license required
- School Nursing experience required, including experience working with families
- Minimum of 3 years experience in pediatric, preferably in a school, setting
- Good administrative / computer skills
