NYRP is seeking to fill one 11-month term (1,700 service hour) AmeriCorps position to support program management staff; this is an opportunity to learn about non-profit management from the inside, while assisting with program development.

Mission
NYRP carries out founder Bette Midler’s dream of a cleaner, more beautiful New York City. NYRP restores, develops, and revitalizes underserved parks, community gardens, and open space in all five boroughs. We invest in the communities we serve by providing ongoing maintenance and enriching educational and public programming; because we believe that every individual has the right to a beautiful neighborhood and the responsibility for contributing to its care. NYRP is the lead non-profit partner for MillionTreesNYC, an exciting initiative to plant and care for one million new trees in NYC over the next decade.

Job Description
Responsibilities will include data collection and tracking, program reporting, development of training modules for incoming team members and volunteers. Approximately 30% of service time will be in direct field service in NYRP community gardens and parks, this work can include garden watering, weeding, planting, litter patrol and operational support with currently serving AmeriCorps teams.

This position requires strong computer skills, communication skills, and organizational skills. Familiarity with basic garden principles is a benefit.

The position requires a full-time commitment — 5 days a week, 8 hours a day —- starting immediately for a period of 11 months. The field service portion of the work will involve outdoor, physical work and which requires stamina, physical strength and a tolerance for working in all weather conditions. On occasion work assignments require weekend hours.

AmeriCorps Benefits

AmeriCorps Eligibility

Additional Qualifications:

This position requires an individual who can work independantly, who is flexible and ready to take on a wide range of tasks reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
