Director, Sierra Club San Francisco Bay Chapter
With 35,000 members and donors, the Sierra Club San Francisco Bay Chapter is the Bay Area’s premier environmental and grassroots political organization with a one hundred year history of leadership in establishing environmental standards for the region and the nation. The San Francisco Bay Chapter organizes activists in four Bay Area Counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin and San Francisco.
Major accomplishments include:
• Leading the nation in building local clean renewable energy solutions.
• Passing landmark legislation preserving habitat and open space.
• Establishing a legacy of world-class parks and public lands.
• Electing local, state and federal environmental leaders.
We are seeking an innovative director with the vision and experience to help lead the Sierra Club into the future. The Senior Chapter Director, working with the Executive Committee, directs an 18-person office and 1.25 million dollar budget that includes 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) and PAC accounts. The successful candidate has experience in non-profit management, grassroots organizing, legislative lobbying, electoral campaigns, major gift fundraising and public relations.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years experience directing a non-profit or political organization.
• The leadership and vision to achieve organizational goals, including long-term strategic planning and coordinating multiple campaigns.
• Strong communication skills with experience in media and public relations.
• Experience in major gift fundraising and managing donor relations.
• Experience in electoral politics and grassroots lobbying.
• An ability to work cooperatively with an elected volunteer Executive Committee.
• A demonstrated commitment to environmental issues.
