Description:
Part-time Teacher Recruitment Ambassador - Multiple Locations
We are currently seeking part-time Teacher Recruitment Ambassadors for the 2009-2010 school year for various Teaching Fellows programs across the country. Ambassadors are high-quality teachers who help manage and implement teacher recruitment efforts by sharing their own inspiring classroom experiences with potential Teaching Fellow candidates.
Teaching Fellows Programs
The New Teacher Project (TNTP) works with districts across the country to create Teaching Fellows programs. We recruit, select, and train high-achieving professionals and recent college graduates from all backgrounds to teach in critical need areas. Fellows go through a rigorous selection process and summer training Institute, and will begin teaching in the fall. Most Fellows do not have formal teaching experience, but all have a demonstrated record of past success, subject-matter knowledge, and a commitment to working in our schools.
Roles and Responsibilities
Ambassadors will be part-time employees for one of TNTP’s alternative route to teaching programs. Ambassadors are a critical part of our recruitment campaigns. If selected, Ambassadors will be charged with recruiting and cultivating a diverse group of outstanding teachers. Ambassadors will work in conjunction with TNTP staff; responsibilities will vary by city, but may include:
- cultivating potential teacher candidates through phone calls
- leading information sessions for interested candidates
- attending interview events to interact with and speak to potential candidates
- visiting college and universities and conducting presentations
- developing relationships with professors, department heads, career service offices, and student groups
- attending career fairs and other teacher events
- researching, contacting, and cultivating relationships with community organizations
Commitment
Ambassadors will generally spend 5-7 hours per week on the varying duties listed above.
Compensation
Compensation varies based on geographic region. Please see the individual job descriptions for compensation information.
Additional Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this opportunity will demonstrate:
- Current teaching position in district (preferably in high-need school)
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency with technology
- Belief in the mission of TNTP and Teaching Fellows Programs
- Strong time management
- Strong critical thinking skills
