Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: This is a full-time position responsible for providing support to the Development Department in various capacities. The individual hired will work closely with the Director of Development to support the planning and execution of fundraising activities in order to meet organizational goals. He or she will also work to enhance public awareness of Friedman Place and promote support for its mission.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Supports the execution of donor relations/outreach activities.
•Helps with preparation of mail campaigns through participation in the planning process, writing of materials, extraction/clean-up of mailing lists and communication with outside professionals.
•Assists with the creation of donor communications, including the newsletter and annual report.
•Processes donations and writes acknowledgement letters to donors within established time frame.
•Works closely with Development Director on regular upkeep of database and management of database clean up.
•Researches donor prospects and writes grant proposals.
•Participates in planning of small-scale special events.
•Aids with preparation of fundraising reports for analysis and external communications.
•Helps manage the presentation of the organization’s image to the community and potential contributors through updating of website and other social media.
•Performs other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the development department.
Must be able and willing to perform all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 2+ years of experience in a nonprofit with background in fundraising is desirable. Candidates should have an undergraduate degree or equivalent experience. Prior work with databases preferred. Ability to work in a team is essential.

•Possess outstanding oral and written communication skills, and strong spelling and grammar.
•Have excellent computer skills as well as ability and commitment to learn new software. (Friedman Place currently uses Giftworks for donor management)
•Be organized and detail-oriented.
•Have strong interpersonal skills.
•Know how to communicate effectively with manager and coworkers.
•Comfortably interact with disabled individuals and work cooperatively with fellow employees.
•Demonstrate good judgment and reasoning.
•Be able to problem-solve and utilize resources.
•Have the determination to help Friedman Place enhance its fundraising operations.
•Meet health assessment per facility requirements.
Physical Requirements:
1. Able to work irregular hours occasionally, and often under the pressure of deadlines.
2. Able to get around the facility, grounds and community to carry out assignments.
