1001wonders.org is listing 1001 cultural and natural sites around the world and documenting them in panophotographies - interactive 360 x 180 degrees imaging.
This project is for education purposes and for those who are unable to travel for whatever reason. It is also a testimony to future generations.
Sites are chosen and classified by online members based on :
* the Intangible Heritage Lists ;
* the Man and the Biosphere Programme ;
* the Memory of the World Programme ;
* the World Heritage List ;
* the World Monuments Fund Watch Lists.
1001wonders.org is a non-profit, non-governmental organization which is alive thanks to the Friends of 1001 wonders. This project is steadily growing since July 2001 and will need years to complete.
