Mission:
The Jewish Women's Archive is the world's first institution dedicated to uncovering, chronicling, and transmitting the record of Jewish women's past and creating an ongoing record of Jewish women's lives. One of the first organizations in the Jewish community to stake a claim on the new frontier of the web, JWA continues to innovate in its use of the virtual world for academic, cultural, archival and educational purposes. To increase awareness of the rich history of Jewish women, JWA has developed an impressive array of educational programs and resources, including a prototype oral history project called Weaving Women's Words and the dramatic Women of Valor poster series. Projects such as these have brought the lives and accomplishments of Jewish women out of obscurity and into the mainstream of Jewish and American life and education.
