Mission:
KIPP NYC is a family of four open-enrollment public middle schools in New York City. KIPP Academy in the Bronx (founded in 1995) and KIPP STAR in Harlem (2003) will both serve grades five through eight in the 2007-2008 academic year. KIPP AMP in Brooklyn (2005) and KIPP Infinity in Harlem (2005) will begin their third year, serving grades five through seven. KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) is designed to teach our students to develop the academic and character skills necessary for success in high school and college, to be self-sufficient in the competitive world beyond, and to build a better tomorrow for themselves and us all (www.kippnyc.org). In each of their districts, KIPP NYC schools rank among the highest-performing.
