Mission:
Water for Waslala is a project dedicated to providing potable water systems for the poor region of Waslala, Nicaragua. It is also intended to foster a greater awareness of global poverty in the metropolitan Philadelphia area, in an effort to form a bridge of understanding and solidarity between the community of Waslala and the greater American community. Today, two thirds of the communities in Waslala still lack a water system that provides clean, purified water for its people. Consequently, many men, women and children are needlessly dying every year of diseases caused by drinking contaminated water.
Water for Waslala seeks to remedy this crisis by providing the monies necessary to install and maintain a purified water system for the 50 communities that are still in need. It will do so by fundraising in high schools, colleges and parishes throughout the United States, applying for grants from numerous businesses and foundations, planning events and soliciting individual contributions from supporters around the nation.
