Mission:
Harlem Success Academy Charter School opened its
doors in August 2006 with 155 kindergarteners and
first graders from the Harlem community. Led by
former New York City Council Education Committee
Chair Eva Moskowitz, Harlem Success will add a
grade each year until it becomes a full-sized
elementary school. The Harlem Success team has
an ambitious expansion plan, with the goal of
opening forty more schools in NYC. Harlem
Success is dedicated to extraordinary educational
excellence and educational reform. We believe that
fundamental social change is within our reach and
that all children, regardless of background, if
provided with the proper tools and training, can
succeed. We believe in equal opportunity and
success for all of our students. With a dedicated,
dynamic faculty who work collaboratively and
relentlessly, students will not only excel at
standardized tests but also develop a deep love of
learning. They will learn to be active thinkers,
competent leaders, and respectful citizens. Harlem
Success, with a strong focus on math and literacy,
believes in traditional, structured teaching practices
while maintaining a progressive view of the whole
child.
