We are a non-profit corporation supported with public and private funds. We provide free legal services to low-income Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic County residents in a variety of civil law matters. Our attorneys, paralegals, and support staff are dedicated to providing the highest quality legal services. We seek to assure that access to the civil justice system is not denied to our clients simply because they cannot afford a private attorney.
HOUSING: Representation and Advice in landlord/tenant, foreclosure, rent assistance, public housing, community economic development and other housing matters.
FAMILY: Assistance in obtaining domestic violence restraining orders, and advice and representation in child support, child custody, divorce, and other family law matters.
PUBLIC BENEFITS: Advice and representation in matters involving eligibility for public benefits, such as Social Security Retirement and Disability, SSI, Medicaid, Medicare, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Food Stamps, General Assistance and other benefits.
EMPLOYMENT: Advice and representation in matters involving unemployment insurance benefits and other employment related matters.
CONSUMER: Advice and representation in matters involving collection, unfair and deceptive practices, credit, and bankruptcy.
COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Assistance to community organizations involved in job creation, housing development and who provide social services.
