Mission:
The Women Empowerment Institute, Cameroon (WEICAM) is
a nongovernmental organization located in the North West
Provence of Cameroon, recognized by the government of
Cameroon with registration number NW/GP/30/06/10066 of
the 30th of June 2006. WEICAM was founded by a group of
four women and a man, to promote human rights and democracy
in a region that relegates women to the background. The
organization currently operates with a staff, including the
executive director and four volunteers managing the various
programs. The members include 5 founding members, 20 special
members, and 64 ordinary group members.
WEICAM’s mission is to promote human rights and
democracy, put more women in leadership positions, and involves women
in economic activities that will reduce poverty in their communities.
We aim to achieve our mission through: Legal advice, Education and
training, advocacy and lobbying, Capacity building, Language and
computer literacy and research.
Our various programs are designed to provide an integrated approach to
promoting human rights, addressing issues of gender equality and gender
equity, economic empowerment and human rights of all.
