Mission:

Who We Are
The Eldercare Workforce Alliance is a group of 25 national organizations, joined together to address the workforce crisis in caring for an aging America.

The Institute of Medicine, in its critical report “Re-tooling for an Aging America: Building the Health Care Workforce,” called for immediate investments in preparing our health care system to care for older Americans and their families. In response, we formed the national Eldercare Workforce Alliance—representing consumers, family caregivers, the direct-care workforce, and healthcare professionals—to propose practical solutions to strengthen our eldercare workforce.

Our Mission
To build a strong, caring and competent eldercare workforce—one that will work in partnership with older adults and their families to provide high-quality, culturally-sensitive, person-directed healthcare.

Our Shared Vision
We believe that:
Ensuring quality of life for all who care for older adults, including family caregivers, is an essential element of quality healthcare.
Resolving the healthcare workforce crisis requires addressing recruitment, retention, and training issues across the direct-care and professional eldercare workforce.
Adopting care models that provide well-coordinated, person-directed services across settings is an essential step in addressing our fragmented healthcare system.
