Mission:
The AMERICAN RED CROSS of Central Maryland is at
work daily in your community. Our mission is to
help people prevent, prepare for and cope with
emergencies. Some of the many things we do are:
PROVIDE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE and funds for food/
clothing/shelter to victims of fires, storms and
other disasters; SUPPLY BLOOD AND BLOOD PRODUCTS
to cancer patients, accident victims and others in
more than 80 area hospitals; PROVIDE EMERGENCY
COMMUNICATIONS and assistance to members of the
U.S. Armed Forces and their families and help to
reunite families separated by war and natural
disasters; TEACH AND CERTIFY PEOPLE IN LIFESAVING
SKILLS such as CPR, first aid and lifeguard
training; TRAIN PEOPLE in swimming, nursing
assistance, crime avoidance, HIV/AIDS prevention,
childcare and health related areas.
