Mission:

The American Prospect is a national monthly magazine of liberal politics and public affairs, committed to a just society, an enriched democracy, and effective progressive politics. The
magazine received the 2004 Utne Independent Press Award for General Excellence.

The Prospect, an independent nonprofit, was launched in 1990 by Paul Starr, Robert Kuttner, and Robert Reich. The magazine is available online, on newsstands, and by subscription.

In addition to our printed magazine, we also publish daily web-only features as well as an award-winning group blog, TAPPED.

In the context of an increasingly consolidated media industry, fresh independent analysis and commentary -- on issues like the economy, civil rights, health care, education, and more -- is more critical than ever. The Prospect's in-depth reporting and authoritative analysis have made it a highly influential and trusted magazine, and a definitive liberal voice.
