Mission:
The White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood is a group of organizations and individuals that have combined forces to raise international awareness about the need to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for all women and newborns. The Alliance hopes to make or keep this issue as a priority of international organizations and governments.
The goals of the Alliance are to:
-Raise awareness among citizens, international nongovernmental organizations, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and governments concerning the need for action to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for all women and their families.
-Build alliances to save the lives of women through intersectoral and non-traditional partnerships (such as teachers, religious organizations and the government), recognizing that the strength of a large and united effort can effect change.
-Act as a catalyst for action to address the tragedy of maternal deaths and sustain the current safe motherhood efforts under way.
