Jeunes Volontaires pour l'Environnement is a youth-led non profit organisation aimed at:
Empowering youths to understand their surroundings universe and take the necessary actions for a positive and harmonious interaction.
Encouraging youths involvement in the sustainable development process
Informing the population about the new MEAs (multilateral environmental agreements)so that they know their duty and rights.
Encouraging international solidarity in favour of disadvantaged children and communities
Stimulating the volunteering spirit in young ones.
Taking action to better people's livelihood and
ensuring social justice for all.
Started in 2001, JVE grew up to become the biggest NGO on the continent with international representations in 8 countries (Benin, Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo Uganda and Nigeria etc...)
In Togo, where YVE has its headquarters, 30 local branches implement the organisation's programmes.
Activities:
We have been active in the process towards the World Summit on Sustainable Development.
We are active in various fields such environmemtal education, solar cooking, agroforestry, biodiversity(GMO), climate change, pesticide sustainable disposal, youth employment, community service, internattional summer youth camps, international workshops, ICTs, tree planting, AIDS awareness campaigns... Of course, all this is done on a volunteer basis. The staff is not paid.
As to enthrone our wonderful work in 2002, the executive committee received two international awards:
1- the prize of performance awarded by the International Awards Council in United Arab Emirats
2- the UICN-Reuters 2002 Media Award in Washington DC, USA -

Currently, the NGO is assisted by several volunteers from Togo and foreign countries like Norway, France and UK. 10 people are devoting their time and energy for an inter and intra generational equity.
More than 40 international volunteers have already contributed or profitted from our experience.
we are implementing projects on environmental education in schools and AIDS awareness campaign along with a weekly radio program on sustainable development. We also run a weekly popular TV Program called 'ecodeveloppement'.
We organised the first ever youth forum on social justice featuring the Bhopal tragedy (www.studentsforbhopal.org/JVE.htm)
JVE participated in several events in 2005 like the Montreal conference on Climate Change and since coordinates the new network called the 'African Initiative on Climate Change'.
We work with several ecological networks like Environnement Jeunesse Canada, Earth Day Network, African Biodiversity Network, Global Youth Action Network, UNEP TUNZA Youth network, Child rights information Network...
