Reading Partners' (formerly YES Reading) mission is to expand the life opportunities of children in low-income communities by empowering them with strong literacy skills. Classroom teachers refer students to Reading Partners, and we recruit and train community volunteers to provide one-on-one reading support to these children. Reading Partners works directly with schools and establishes dedicated reading centers on partner school campuses.
Reading Partners supports teachers and schools by providing structured, results-oriented, one-on-one tutoring to children who may otherwise not have an opportunity for individualized reading attention. Our premise is that community involvement in traditionally underserved public schools is a critical component of student achievement and success.
