Mission:
As a non-profit educational organization, the mission of Ferry Beach Ecology School is to foster stewardship for the Earth by educating youth and adults about ecology, natural history, environmental preservation and sustainability. At FBES, we focus on ecology because it is multi-disciplinary. Since ecology emphasizes interrelationships, it is the ideal way to tie students' experiences with the landscape and ecosystems they live in and rely on, whether they be back yards, forests, ponds, marshes, oceans, watersheds or bioregions. With hands-on exploration of nature, students grow to not only understand, but also appreciate the earth and learn how their own daily actions affect the ecology of this planet.
