I am an environmental-educator-turned-graphic-designer, now operating a small independent firm, Sproutreach, that specializes in helping environmentally and socially responsible organizations grow and connect with their audiences more effectively through the power of effective graphic design and illustration.

My passion for illustration & design was born out of my passion for nature. At an early age, I learned that I could learn more about both by recording my observations and experiences in a nature journal. In sharing these journals with others, I was able to further my understanding of the natural world, and, in the process, I discovered the world of visual communication.

The "Exploring Nature Through Drawing" program is a hands-on, guided experience in the field, conducted at your site. Through a series of exercises, I'll provide techniques, tips, and strategies for recording your outdoor experiences, all designed to improve your powers of observation. This program is, by no means, a lesson on "how-to-draw" (think "how-to-see" instead), and requires no prior drawing experience. Rather, it is intended to empower all participants, regardless of drawing experience, to embrace drawing and its ability to enhance our appreciation and understanding of nature.
