Volunteer for Child Care
Contract- 1 week to six Months
Duty Station: Kathmandu, Bhaktapur,Pokhara, Kavre, Chitwan and various parts of Nepal.
Each year, hundreds of children leave poor villages to find work in cities. The ILO estimates that 2.60million children in Nepal are involved in varied economic activities. Among them, many are working in dangerous circumstances, at times with even their young lives at risk. Often these children are deprived of their most basic rights, including the right to education.
Most of them are abandoned at an early age, have fled from war, their parents were killed in war or in jail, destitute family background etc. As a result, most of these needy children are deprived of education and find work as child laborers in restaurants, factories, hotels, slave, and as trash collector. These disadvantaged children need attention, love, care, and the opportunity to further their education.
Our volunteers teach basic English and other subjects such as math and science in creative ways to these eager learners. As a volunteer, you might also organize tours, games, drawing classes, singing, dancing, painting and other activities that children enjoy. Volunteers may help the children prepare for school, help with their homework, and organize arts and crafts activities.
