Description:

Nepal is full of biodiversity. Due to lack of awareness and rapid population growth, natural resources have been used unexpectedly. If it continues, communities may face awful natural disasters such as soil erosion, landslides and consequently epidemics. VIN therefore aims to deploy its volunteers to make community people aware on those in association with community based organizations and youth clubs. In this program, volunteers will help to develop village and school profiles organizing meetings with school management committees, students, and community members, in an effort to identify the further needs of the school and the community. Volunteers will identify their needs by using Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) tools i.e. community mapping, focused group discussions, and sorting and ranking volunteers. During their stay in the community, volunteers will also organize some awareness-raising activities to help promote the understanding of various environmental and development issues. Awareness campaigns are done through dramas, rallies, stories, games, and competitions.

This process has strengthened and empowered children's groups, Women Groups and CBOs. Then, they continue these activities for the rest of the period. These activities cover environmental and sanitation campaigns, conservation campaigns, health issue campaigns, etc.
