Description:

This volunteer will be responsible for developing and implementing a physical fitness program for the children including teaching sports and the creation of sports teams and athletics. The children in the orphanage and community children are the main target group, but this may be extended to other youth in the nearby schools. Volunteers can also be involved in the development of other programs (such as working with young girls to encourage their participation in sports.)

REQUIRED SKILLS: experience with training/teaching children is an advantage but not essential, physically fit, good communication skills, understanding, patient and enjoy working with children.


LOCATION OF THE PROGRAM
The program is located at Maragwa approximately 70 kilometers north of Nairobi – central Kenya however volunteers will be able to visit other projects in other parts of Kenya.

DURATION OF THE PROGRAM
The duration depends on the volunteer’s availability and travel arrangements. We accept volunteers both short-term, 2-4 weeks and long-term, 1- 3 months. For volunteers wanting to travel, we are able to assist with providing information.

PROGRAM FEE
US$90 per week payable prior or at the start of the placement.

FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION
Food & accommodation are provided as part of the program.

AIR TICKET AND TRAVEL COSTS
Volunteers are required to purchase their own airline tickets.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS
Our staff will meet you at the airport upon arrival and escort you on departure.

PERSONAL EXPENSES
services such as internet, telephone, countryside travels, gift items, amenities etc are available at a small fee
