Description:
Be introduced to the wisdom and practices of traditional, indigenous healers who combine the environment's natural resources with their own inner guidance. Some of their methods have been handed down through generations; others are blended with their own artful innovations. You will learn about the healing resources of the rain forest, meet traditional healing practitioners of western Belize, learn about the role played by natural healing in Belizean culture, and help natural healers of Belize maintain a high professional standing in their community. For more information on this two week opportunity, please see http://www.cornerstonefoundationbelize.org/programs/health/naturalhealing.html
Cornerstone Foundation is a small community development organization. We provide for transport to and from the airport, accommodations (dorm style), lunch on most days, orientations (house, cultural, office, and program), staff direction, office space (including equipment and supplies), and a scheduled program of natural healing activities (as well as river and Maya site excursions).
Program participants contribute $699 and must have travel health insurance. Please see the FAQ page at http://www.cornerstonefoundationbelize.org/volunteering/faq.html to view options and understand expectations. It also includes a packing list, possible expenses, and health information.
Cornerstone’s office and housing are located in San Ignacio in the Cayo District of Belize (11 miles from Guatemala). Applicants must be 18 years or older. Students and other adults are welcome to apply.
