AVA is looking for volunteers to work at small Health Posts in rural areas of Nepal. This is an on going project. Volunteers will be helping local people with common health problems. They will also give seminars or classes for children in schools. These seminars will be held at the health post or in schools. They will teach local people about such things as good hygiene, health, sanitation and nutrition. Most of the staff at these health posts have no formal training in medicine so we are also aiming to teach the permanent staff as much as possible.
This will help introduce Nepali people to more modern medicine. Nepali people will sometimes, because of cultural influences or superstition go to a which doctor. This can lead to a more serious illness or even death.
This program can be from a couple of weeks to 5 months. Training starts on the 1st and 15th of every month. There is no specific requirements for this program. We encourage all medical and health care professionals, students, nutritionalists and anyone with basic health care skills to apply.
Prices start at $295 US and go up depending on how long you would like to stay in Nepal and what training package you choose.
