Description:
This position involves working with the local community to assist families to become self-sustainable and/or develop businesses to be more successful. Volunteers will engage with local groups and key community members and develop links with other agencies and NGOs. Part of this role can also involve becoming involved in local education programs (such as HIV awareness) Volunteers will also have the opportunity to work with local women groups and young women to develop business initiatives, skills training and education programs.
REQUIRED SKILLS: understanding of basic business principles, creativity, understanding and patience. Training in business would be an advantage.
LOCATION OF THE PROGRAM
The program is located at Maragwa, central highlands of Kenya, 70 kilometers from Nairobi
DURATION OF THE PROGRAM
The duration depends on the volunteer’s availability and travel arrangements. We accept volunteers both short-term, 2-4 weeks and long-term, 1- 3 months. For volunteers wanting to travel, we are able to assist with providing information.
FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION
Food & accommodation are provided as part of the program fee.
AIR TICKET AND TRAVEL COSTS
You are required to cater for your own air tickets.
AIRPORT PICK-UPS
our staff will meet you at the airport upon arrival and escort you on departure.
PERSONAL EXPENSES
internet, telephone, district touring, gifts, luxuries etc are available at a little fee.
