Description:

The construction assistant will assist in the building of various structures being erected on the orphanage site, such as kitchen, dormitories and other facilities. Tasks will include mixing cement, plastering, shoveling dirt, laying stones and assisting in laying foundations, painting etc. Volunteers will work with local workmen and will have the opportunity to participate in the development of new projects

REQUIRED SKILLS: Experience in construction would be an advantage but is not essential, a willingness to learn and participate in tasks.

LOCATION OF THE PROGRAM
The program is located at Maragwa approximately 70 kilometers north of Nairobi – central Kenya however volunteers will be able to visit other projects in other parts of Kenya.

DURATION OF THE PROGRAM
The duration depends on the volunteer’s availability and travel arrangements. We accept volunteers both short-term, 2-4 weeks and long-term, 1- 3 months. For volunteers wanting to travel, we are able to assist with providing information.

PROGRAM FEE
US$90 per week payable prior or upon start of the program.

FOOD AND ACCOMMODATION
Food & accommodation are provided as part of the program.

AIR TICKET AND TRAVEL COSTS
Volunteers are required to purchase their own airline tickets.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS
Our staff will meet you at the airport upon arrival and escort you on departure.

PERSONAL EXPENSES
services such as internet, telephone, countryside travels, gift items, amenities etc are available at a small fee
