Volunteer Job Description
Job Title: Teacher Aide
Objective: To assist the teacher and adult refugee students in the ESL classroom.
Time commitment: One or more days a week. Program options: Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.; Monday- Thursday 1:00-3:30 p.m.; Monday-Thursday 6:00-8:30 p.m. Classes run year round.
Responsibilities:
• To assist the designated teacher in preparation and implementation of lessons
• To assist individual students or groups with English listening, speaking, reading, and writing practice under the direction and guidance of the teacher.
• Keep records of volunteer hours and notify program manager or teacher of any absences.
• Communicate with Volunteer Supervisor about any issues or problems that arise during your volunteer time.
• Abide by the Volunteer Policies and Agreements.

Qualifications:
• Ability to work well with others.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to speak English well.
• Dependable and punctual.
• Cultural sensitivity and flexibility essential.
Training Requirements:
• On the job training in methods and materials
• Attend 3 training sessions per year
