Description:
We have multiple VISTA positions open across the state and are seeking qualified applicants who demonstrate a commitment to service and a passion for disaster recovery. While each of our volunteer opportunities is unique, they are all focused on building the capacities of disaster recovery efforts by identifying and leveraging available resources. Rather than hammering roofs on wind-torn houses, our volunteers do the equally important behind-the-scenes work of volunteer coordination, organization development, fund raising, public affairs, casework administration, and community disaster education.
Our AmeriCorps*VISTA Members are full-time volunteers, committed to 1 year of service. During that year, Members receive a modest living allowance of approximately $800 per month, basic health coverage (does not cover pre-existing conditions), and federal student loan forbearance or deferment. Members who complete their 1 year terms can choose to receive either an Education Award of $4725 to be used toward past student loans or future education expenses or an End-of-Service stipend of $1200.
