Description:
Thanks to the marvels of the internet, Infinite Family helps bridge gaps both physical and cultural between the United States and Africa. Through online video chats, Infinite Family creates a safe and personal forum for adult mentors to communicate with South African children affected HIV/AIDs and poverty. It starts with a conversation, but soon becomes so much more.
Becoming a mentor through Infinite Family requires less than you might think. With little more than a computer and one half hour a week, you can be on your way to being a positive light in the life of a South African child.
Mentors must be at least 21 years of age and approved through an application process.
In order to support video chat capabilities, mentors must have a high-speed internet connection and a webcam.
Mentors will undergo a short online training program aimed at helping them understand the culture, the technology and the children. Following the training mentors, will be ready to chat with their Net Buddies.
How to Apply:
To apply to become a Net Buddy Mentor, email info@infinitefamily.org for an introductory packet and application. Or apply online at our website: www.infinitefamily.org.
The gift is you...your time, your experience, your self. Your smile. Your personality. Your sense of humor. Your talents. Your hopes and dreams. To a child with few role models, your life becomes a treasure trove of invaluable information. Become a mentor to a South African child today!
