Description:

Democracia USA is a national non-partisan civic engagement organization that works to increase the prominence and participation of Hispanics in the political process through Empowerment, Leadership Training, Civic Participation and Community Organizing. We believe it is time that Hispanics make our voice heard and earn the respect we deserve as contributing members of this society. In previous years Democracia USA has surpassed all expectations adding 72,000 new voters in 2004 and 105,000 new voters in 2006. According to an Associated Press story by Erin Texeira dated November 1, 2006, Democracia USA generated 70% of all new third-party voter registrations in the Hispanic commy, making us the second largest third-party voter registration program in the country. This will provide great opportunities to get experience working on a national political mobilization campaign.

We are looking for volunteers both for in office work and field work. The office work will consist of data entry and connecting with registrants to confirm their information. Hours are flexible and we can work around classes. The office is a warm open environment with great diversity. The field work consists of identifying potential registrants at on site locations and going door to door. Our in field staff works in groups of seven with guidance from an experienced captain. We provide training for all aspects of work, providing great work experience for later on in life.
