Description:
CNFA's Farmer-to-Farmer program, part of USAID's global John Ogonowski Farmer-to-Farmer Program, provides opportunities for U.S. farmers, agribusiness professionals and other agriculturists to help contribute to democracy-building and the development of a market economy by sharing their expertise with aspiring entrepreneurs across the globe. American volunteers travel to Belarus to share their knowledge in high value agricultural crop production, food processing, farm financial management and business planning, marketing, cooperative/organizational development, livestock production, banking and finance, and rural credit.
The Farmer-to-Farmer Program has been active in Belarus since 1999. Our objectives in Belarus are to help privatized collective farms achieve success and increase the incomes of their employees, raise the living standards of Belarusian farmers, and aid the process of general privatizaion. CNFA is committed to assisting farmers during this tumultuous transition, and has fielded over 68 volunteers who have completed 99 technical assistance assignments . They have provided invaluable advice and support during this economic adjustment.
All volunteer assignment expenses are covered by CNFA®. Assignments are typically 16-19 days long and seek U.S. citizens or green card holders with extensive professional experience in agriculture.
