Special Events
On-Site Events:Help with set-up/greeting/breakdown of on-site exhibit openings, receptions, and other public events and programs. Events are generally held weekday evenings or weekend.
Off-Site Events: Help with off-site fundraisers, including private donor events, LGBT Pride Beverage Booth, LGBT Pride Information Booth, and the GLBTHS Gala.
Archival Projects
Working with Archives collections. Duties may include organizing materials, data entry, and assisting researchers on Saturdays.
Training provided.
Oral History Transcriptions
Transcribe recorded interviews with community members.
Training provided.
Curatorial Display Assistant
Help mount and remove exhibits; this entails some manual labor (such as painting) but will give volunteers experience in the nuts-and-bolts of museum work.
Commitment requested: duration of single exhibition preparation (generally from 1 to 6 months).
Curatorial Research Assistant
Assist exhibit curators identify, locate, and track archival materials used in the exhibits.
Commitment requested: duration of single exhibition preparation (generally from 1 to 6 months).
