Description:
Can you read? If so, why not help an adult learn to do the same? In less than 2 hours per week, you can make a life changing difference for a local resident! We use the Laubach method - an easy to learn, guided teaching series that takes you step-by-step through the entire process. Our training workshop can be completed in half a day. Tutors are matched one-to-one with students. Meeting times and sites are selected based on ease of access for both tutor and learner. We have sites across Harnett County, including Dunn, Erwin, Lillington, Coats, Angier and remote areas of the county. We use libraries, JobLink centers, church classrooms, etc. Our main office, classroom and computer lab are located in the small busines incubator, Triangle South Enterprise Center in Dunn, NC. In addition to adult literacy tutors, we are also seeking ESL tutors. Bilingual is a plus! Have another skill to share - why not volunteer to teach basic computer skills or teach a one-time workshop in your area of expertise?
