Description:

Purpose: To assist in providing smooth and successful two day intensive workshops training local actors to grow and promote amaranth
Location: Oaxaca City, Oaxaca and surrounding villages
Time Commitment: Two weeks prior to workshop (15 hours per week) and two full days during the workshop
Level of Spanish needed: Advanced Level of English needed: Advanced

Responsibilities:
Four times per year, Puente conducts training workshops in Oaxaca City to prepare rural women to teach others about amaranth in their villages. Puente also holds workshops to train farmers how to grow amaranth for commercial production. During the weeks and days leading up to these workshops, a volunteer is needed to assist with logistical and last-minute details. This volunteer will handle a variety of tasks including the preparation of workshop materials participation in greeting participants as they arrive, assistance in running errands leading up to and during the workshop.
