Description:
Working with the charity WORLDwrite, volunteers are needed to join a team committed to developing an alternative monthly newsreel and fledgling News Channel. Covering work produced by the charity’s volunteers, as well as key debates and issues, the newsreel will examine the hot issues, investigate alternative views and summarise opinions. The newsreels will not cover the usual stories or existing preoccupations but will seek out local and global subjects which challenge prevailing assumptions, advance new knowledge and critique contemporary fads. With an uncompromising stance on global equality, the fledgling channel and its monthly programme will seek to influence prevailing attitudes and ideas. WORLDwrite hopes to develop a monthly newsletter to accompany the channel. This role needs a volunteer with great writing skills, someone who can turn long stories into exciting short paragraphs, can get a message across in a sentence and put together the background news on a story. Computer literacy and an interest in news and politics are essential. Volunteers can take on the whole newsletter job or smaller tasks and just contribute. Time input is flexible and much of this work may be done from home or college. This project welcomes newcomers to the UK to help advance a truly global perspective.
Previous skills not required but a commitment to global equality is a must!
