Description:

Working with the charity WORLDwrite, volunteers are needed to join a team committed to developing an alternative monthly newsreel and fledgling News Channel. Covering work produced by the charity’s volunteers, as well as key debates and issues, the newsreel will examine the hot issues, investigate alternative views and summarise opinions. The newsreels will not cover the usual stories or existing preoccupations but will seek out local and global subjects which challenge prevailing assumptions, advance new knowledge and critique contemporary fads. With an uncompromising stance on global equality, the fledgling channel and its monthly programme will seek to influence prevailing attitudes and ideas. WORLDwrite is looking for a volunteer news producer to organise all aspects of the news channels productions. Volunteers can take on the whole job or smaller aspects. The producer makes arrangements with interview subjects, prepares background material, writes and communicates with crew and plans shoots, oversees set design and setup. Time is flexible for this project and some planning work can be done from home or college. Volunteers will however need to be available to set up and prepare for evening and weekend shoots. This project welcomes newcomers to the UK to help advance a truly global perspective.

No experience required but a good organiser, communicator and meticulous attention to planning and detail are essential for this role. A commitment to global equality is a must!
