Description:
The Jefferson Health Mentors program is looking to recruit volunteers from the community who live with one or more chronic conditions or disabilities to educate health professions students (from medicine, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, family and couples therapy, and pharmacy) about the importance of patient centered care.
Health Mentors meet with a small group (4 or 5) of Jefferson students 3 to 4 times a year for 2 years. Meetings last approximately one hour. During this time, Jefferson students will talk to their mentors about things that are important to being a good doctor, nurse, or therapist. For instance, in the first year, they will ask their mentors to tell them about events in their lives, about their health history, about what health insurance does and does not pay for, and what makes a good doctor, nurse, or health provider.

• Loves to talk
• Is able to come to the Thomas Jefferson University campus
• Has flexibility with time
