Description:

We are the civilian, all-volunteer arm of the United States Coast Guard. With nearly 30,000 members, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary actively provides safety patrols on area waterways and regularly meets with the boating public at marinas and in classrooms. We also directly assist the U.S. Coast Guard in non-law enforcement programs such as search and rescue, and marine environmental protection.

Flotilla 6-11 is one of the premier components of the USCG Auxiliary in the Miami area and we are seeking many volunteers to assist in a wide range of programs such as Marine Safety Patrols, Boater Education, Marine Wildlife Preservation, and Port Security.

Skills/Requirements

Men and women age 17 and older.
Must be a citizen of the United States of America or a U.S. Commonwealth.
Minimum of a basic understanding of the English language.
Ability to volunteer 8 or more hours per month.
Strong desire to save lives, and/or protect our nations ports, and/or preserve marine life and ecosystems.
Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
Must be able to pass a basic U.S. Government background check -- no major felony convictions.
Must pass a basic boating education course within 6 months of membership acceptance.
