Description:
Green River's Computer Reporting Technologies program trains court reporters and professionals who subtitle media for the deaf or hard of hearing. Volunteering with this program is a great way to gain insight on our criminal justice system (Law and Order fans encouraged to apply!). This volunteer opportunity is for a "witness" to participate in once-weekly court or news broadcast simulations. Volunteers will read material aloud so that students can practice transcribing it.
Volunteers must be able to read English fluently and speak it in a strong, clear voice. It's not required that volunteer be able to read text aloud quickly or at a particular speed. Volunteering will take place on Mondays from 10:50 - noon, a minimum of once per month, at GRCC's main campus in Auburn, WA.
