Description:
The Homeland Security Foundation of America (HSFA), a non-profit entity for public safety, energy and health and human services needs volunteer grant writers to utilize their experience and capabilities to help raise funds for various public safety initiatives, including but not limited to:
1. Ready Roadmap USA – Incorporates a grassroots public awareness campaign, safety day events and other community activities to help people understand the hazards in their local area and mitigate those hazards, hoping for the best, but planning for the worst.
HSFA’s Ready Roadmap USA provides each household with:
1. Their local Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) brochure.
2. A copy of our Disaster Preparedness and First Aid Manual, “It’s a Disaster!”
3. A digital child safety ID for children of all ages.
4. Safety materials from HSFA, the FTC, FEMA and your County Emergency Office.
2. Digital Head Start – Offers certified Head Start centers advanced software technology at no cost (in-kind technology grant) to automate processes and provide an effective management system to ensure the highest quality of services are delivered to children and their families.
3. US Privacy Protection – Phase 1 of the Homeland Security Foundation of America (HSFA) U.S. Privacy Protection Initiative (USP-I) is designed to help combat computer crimes by introducing secure authentication technology into the small to medium-sized business (SMB) market at no cost, eliminating a major source of privacy violations for employees and consumers.
4. Criminal Justice – A research initiative to explore the link between routine crime and terrorism.
5. Project STAN - The research proposed encompasses developing a technologically advanced network designed to simulate the behavior and tactics of terrorist groups. The implementation of such technology would result in additional insight and analysis capability for terrorist activity. This technology would also establish a basis for identifying links between organized crime, espionage, and terrorism. The proposed research will build upon existing NIJ infrastructure, such as, the Terrorism Database. These NIJ assets will provide a foundation for developing the Strategic Terrorism Analysis Network (STAN), a computer based simulator with Artificial Intelligence and learning capabilities that enable the system to autonomously exhibit patterns of behavior and simulate the tactics of Anti-American terrorist groups. Combining the capabilities of hybrid neural network technology and advanced forecasting methodologies, the system will execute real-time simulations utilizing a social profile, historical inputs (key threats) and outputs (attack events). Criminal justice personnel will have the ability to interact with the system, providing real-time inputs that result in the system exhibiting patterns of behavior characteristic of terrorist organizations and developing strategies that exploit United States homeland vulnerabilities. The capabilities of this system can be leveraged and integrated into existing counterterrorism programs to significantly increase the effectiveness of investigations and preemptive counterterrorism initiatives.
Volunteer grant writers help HSFA identify sources of funding and develop grant proposals in a timely manner and in proper format.
Successful candidates have:
