Description:
American Jewish World Service - Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer Summer is the centerpiece of a year-long program of service, study and cultural exchange for Jewish adults ages 16 to 24. Participants spend a summer in Africa, Southeast Asia or Central America, working on construction or agriculture projects and learning about grassroots sustainable development. The experience continues in the U.S. with retreats, advocacy and volunteer service opportunities.
Volunteer Corps places Jewish professionals on assignments with local NGOs in developing countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas for two months to a year. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds serve as consultants to AJWS’s partners, providing skills training and staff support and promoting independence and sustainability.
World Partners Fellowship is awarded to recent Jewish college graduates and young professionals seeking an intensive, 10-month volunteer opportunity in the developing world. Fellows work with a grassroots NGO, explore Jewish values that substantiate and motivate human rights work, and gain skills to prepare for a life dedicated to social justice.
