Description
Become a trained disaster responder with the American Red Cross! The Northeast Indiana Chapter of the American Red Cross needs volunteers in Noble County to be ready to respond to local and national disasters.

Responsibilities May Include:

Assessing damage to homes in a disaster area
Working in a Red Cross shelter
Interviewing disaster clients and providing them with food, clothing, and shelter
Serving food and drinks to disaster victims, either in a shelter or in an Emergency Response Vehicle
Provide health care to disaster victims (current license required)
Provide hope to your neighbors who have experienced a disaster by joining the American Red Cross!


Skills

Ability to understand and uphold Red Cross policies and procedures, including the confidentiality of clients
Must be compassionate, non-judgmental
Flexibility and an ability to work well under stress is key!
Ability to promote, develop, and maintain productive working relationships with a broad range of individuals, groups, and units
Ability to complete assigned tasks in consultation with supervisor
No previous experience necessary, but training is required and provided at no cost

Introduction to Disaster (online)
Fulfilling Our Mission
Mass Care (take-home video)
On-the-job and additional training as required by the American Red Cross
Depending on the volunteer's interest areas, additional training may be required. Volunteers are allowed to "specialize" in their particular areas of interest.

*All potential Red Cross volunteers are required to come into the chapter for an interview and complete a criminal background check.
