Description:
The Street Girls Aid also requires social workers as health care educators. At the refuge house in Accra, regular classes are held on pregnancy and parenting with the aim of teaching street girls how to take care of themselves and their babies.
As a volunteer health care educator, you will be required to educate street girls at the refuge on the dangers of early childhood pregnancies and parenting, HIV/AIDS, family planning, personal hygiene, healthy eating habits, etc.
Aside these, your duties will also include:
- holding health care discussions with these street girls in a group or in a one-to-one basis;
- making discussion sessions interactive and allowing for question time;
- encouraging street girls to implement what they learn in health care discussions;
- etc.
