Help the digital commons by volunteering at the Internet Archive!

The Internet Archive (www.archive.org) is a non-profit organization 501(C)(3) seeking to provide universal access to all knowledge. It is an online digital library; our collections include audio, video, texts, web sites and software. Internet Archive works together with organizations like Creative Commons and EFF to preserve and expand the public domain, the open source movement and the commons in general.

Currently the Internet Archive is looking for several enthusiastic volunteers to review content as it comes in as well as improve existing text and other collections. Internet Archive receives about 200 new items from our users per day and maintains almost 100,000 items as well as over 55 billion archived web pages.

The Internet Archive Is located In the beautiful historic Presido In San Francisco and Is accessible by public transportation .We have staff lunches on Friday and provide a free PresidiGo bus pass. This Is an Ideal opportunity to gain experience In digital archivng.

Digital Librian Volunteers improve the quality of the books, music, video, and software collections that are used by millions of users each month:

Responsibilities:
·monitor Incoming content
·fix metadata in our texts collections
·prepare, print, and bind books on demand
·upload dvd's to the Internet Archive
·Input archival music media
·curate digital media collections

Requirements:
·Excitement and interest in the Internet Archive’s mission and organization.
·Some technical knowledge (familiarity with web based applications, ftp, text editors). Training on In-house software provided
·Familiarity with digital audio/video applications and formats as well as Adobe software a plus. Web and email savvy.
·Excellent oral and written communications.
·Flexibility
