Here are the main activities of the Lima volunteer coordinator:
1 - Oversee the volunteer residence two blocks from the Plaza de Armas (main square) in Lima
2 - Receive new volunteers, give them orientation, assign them to work in one of our childrens centres / schools, arrange for them to get to the school with either another volunteer or a Peruvian staff member.
3 - Liaise with the Peruvian Social Workers/Project Coordinators and headquarters staff to make certain everything is kept running the best for the children in our Lima schools.
4 - Serve as a volunteer in one of the schools in the mornings.
5 - Be in charge of promotions and fundraising in Lima, such as Pub Quizes.
6 - Schools are in the mornings, then there is a mid day / early afternoon break. Then in the rest of the afternoon assign and direct and participate in promotions in the centre of Lima, for special events and to attract more international volunteers and generally make known to international visitors to Cusco that there is a project for street kids in which they might participate in in some form.
7 - Either oversee or else direct British/Irish/Scots or Australian volunteers to conduct our twice weekly Pub Quizzes in pubs and hostels.Note: Promotions and Pub Quizzes are all designed to help fund the Lima children´s projects.
9 - With other volunteers, encourage everyone to take a fun break at the week ends, go traveling, sight seeing or enjoy the local social life.
