Description:
Volunteers are needed to meet with an ESL learner during class time from 9:30am-12:30pm one day a week on either Tuesday or Thursday. Volunteers will be paired individually or in small groups with adult students to practice basic reading, writing, and job skills. Volunteers may also be called to substitute for an ESL class if the teacher is out for the day. Before volunteers begin tutoring, they are obligated to observe 2 lower level English classes to get a sense of how the classes are taught and what levels of English they will be working with.
How to Apply:
Volunteers must attend an orientation and pass a background check before beginning. Please contact Shelley Dewig, Volunteer Coordinator, at volunteer@kyrm.org or at (502) 479-9180 ex 53 to ask for an application and schedule an orientation. You can also visit our website at www.kyrm.org to fill out an application.
