AIDG Overview:

The Appropriate Infrastructure Development Group (AIDG) works to provide rural villages in developing countries with affordable and environmentally sound technologies that meet their needs for electricity, sanitation and clean water. Through a combination of business incubation, education, training and outreach, AIDG helps individuals and communities gain access to technology that will improve their lives. Our model provides a novel approach to sustainable development by empowering people with the physical tools and practical knowledge to solve infrastructure problems in their own communities.

AIDG seeks volunteers to facilitate the growth of the organization and its incubated businesses. Currently, AIDG is looking for Haitian Creole, French and Spanish translators to support its work in Haiti and Guatemala.

Translator:
Volunteer translators would help AIDG translate reports, proposals, business and technical training materials, documentation for appropriate technologies, press releases, and web content. Other possible tasks may include updating existing documents for AIDG and its development partners.
• Typical document size: 1 - 20 pages.
• Turnaround time: Several days to 2 weeks. Longer for very technical documents.
• Ideally we would like a long-term volunteer, but we welcome those who can only volunteer intermittently or on a project-to-project basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Applicants interested in this volunteer position should possess the following skills:
• Fluent French or Spanish, preferably native speaker
• Practical experience in translation.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn about environmental issues, engineering, green technologies or appropriate technologies.

VOLUNTEERS MAY WORK REMOTELY.
