ABOUT NEW GLOBAL CITIZENS

New Global Citizens (www.newglobalcitizens.org) is a young, dynamic non-profit organization built around our belief in the power of young people to change the world. Our mission is to educate, equip, and mobilize youth to help solve the greatest challenges faced by communities across the globe. NGC connects the remarkable enthusiasm, commitment and innovation of youth in the United States with solutions created by grassroots social entrepreneurs. NGC is rapidly building a growing movement of young people across the country taking action to support solutions to the world’s greatest challenges.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
New Global Citizens is hiring 3 VISTA members to serve as Program Associates (PAs) to start summer 2009. Under the guidance of the Director of Delivery & Support, PAs serve as the direct liaisons between the New Global Citizens staff and both our student teams and alumni. The PAs act as the “face” of New Global Citizens and are responsible for providing support, management and training as youth 1) are educated about the world’s greatest challenges and 2) design and implement plans to support sustainable global change. The PA role is fun, dynamic, and action-oriented. Responsibilities include:

? Team Management: Support student teams and compile documentation necessary to monitor program implementation and evaluation;
? Team Connectivity: Facilitate on-line tools, discussion venues, and other opportunities to coalesce a network of young people and partners around the country and across the globe;
? Training and Content: Assist in planning and implementation of participant trainings and program content (including video presentations, web tools, resource manuals, etc);
? Outreach and Recruitment: Actively work to grow the movement of student teams around the country, both in current locations and new ones;
? Research and Program Development: Compile resources and opportunities to further involve program participants and alumni in study, work, and travel experiences to expand the NGC experience;
? Capacity Building: Work in conjunction with all members of the NGC Program Team to develop systems/structures essential to build organizational capacity to support a growing movement of youth change agents.

NGC PAs are passionate about the potential for young people to impact change and enjoy working with high school and college-age students. PAs must thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and possess organization skills, flexibility, comfort working both independently and as part of a team, and proficiency working with online tools, social networking sites, and computer programs (Word, Excel, Publisher preferred). Furthermore, the role requires solid understanding of issues pertaining to poverty, advocacy, and international development.

We are excited to see what candidates bring to the table and wish to utilize all talents for the purpose of enhancing the NGC program as well as the VISTA experience.
