OMSI is looking for Greeter Volunteers!
Are you a people-person? Then there is no greater place for you than OMSI’s lobby! You’ll get the chance to greet and provide friendly and helpful service to OMSI visitors as they enter the museum’s exhibit halls. You’ll feel the excitement of countless excited families who are ready to explore and learn!
OMSI’s Visitor Services opportunities include greeting visitors in the lobby, ushering Planetarium Shows, monitoring the entrance and exit of Featured exhibits, and assisting visitors as they queue-up for Submarine tours.

Greeters welcome visitors to OMSI and provide them with friendly and helpful service as they enter the museum’s exhibit halls.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Greet visitors and welcome them to the museum.
· Take tickets and check membership cards.
· Assist visitors in understanding the layout of the museum.
· Give clear directions and provide information about events happening throughout the museum.
· Organize groups for tours on the USS Blueback submarine.
· Check out wheelchairs and strollers to visitors.
Requirements:
Visitor Services Volunteers must:
· Be at least 16 years of age.
· Maintain a professional appearance.
· Maintain a calm, pleasant, and cheerful demeanor in a noisy and crowded environment.
· Communicate effectively with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
· Be dependable and punctual.
· Be self-directed and willing to take initiative.
· Provide excellent customer service.
· Be able to speak in public and respond to customer inquiries.
· Commit to a minimum of nine hours of volunteer work per month for at least nine months.
